Be cautious with companies that offer “whole house air duct cleaning,” urges the NADCA. The company may be using unscrupulous tactics to upsell you once they get started. Before any work begins, always clarify in writing what the job entails and what the cost will be. To protect yourself against fraud, read customer reviews and verify that your HVAC cleaning service has applicable licenses and certifications.
We bid out this job to several companies. Curtis was fantastic on the Sales and support side - he was incredibly knowledgable and was able to answer any and all pre-sales questions we had concerning work to be performed, options, estimates, etc. Completely custom-tailored to our budget, with sensible options. Honest, responsive and professional. They arranged for a two-man installation crew to perform the work, and they did a superb job! Their install was tight, clean and buttoned-up in all regards with the Carrier equipment they installed. They walked us through details of the smart thermostat controls we opted for and Curtis provided an option for our Apple Homekit compatible thermostat request. Air McCall followed up with an optional vent cleaning service after the install with a separate crew who also did an amazing job! Our 15- year old unit is now running with a brand new 15-SEER system with Dehumidifier that is working GREAT! We were so impressed we had them come back out and do the same for our second unit, which we had planned for the following year. All done now with TWO completely new systems working together flawlessly! Could not be happier with the work performed and the professionalism of the company - AirMcCall should be on your list for A/C - great sales, fair pricing and professional service and installation!
The best way to know if your cleaning was effective is through improved performance of your HVAC system, ideally. You can have before-and-after pictures taken of the ducts (make sure they are of the intake ducts - the ducts that return air into your room), motor and coils. Another tip is smell – sniff the ducts before and after the work is done. Outside of noticeably improved performance, smell and visual evidence are your best indicators.
Remember; think about your air system as the lungs of your home. Then consider the type of company that you want to handle your home’s lungs and your indoor air quality within your home. Have the complete air system periodically inspected for contaminated duct work and have it properly maintained so your Heating and Air System can provide your family with good air quality for years to come. Qualified air duct cleaners will follow strict standards set by the National Air Duct Cleaners Association. Allowing an unqualified contractor to clean your ducts could be worse than not having them cleaned at all. More particles could be broken up and released into your home or your HVAC system could be damaged.
"Over Labor Day weekend at 8pm our A/C system went down -- permanently! Our normal AC company was not working and so we went through the phone book and found Waychoff's! It was unbelievable that one of your employees came to our home at 10PM at no extra charge! On Labor Day the Waychoff's team installed the Trane. They were professional, knowledgeable, efficient, courteous, humorous and extremely likeable. They even brought in cardboard boxes in order to keep my carpet clean. Installation went so fast! They really earned their money, and I assure you that they are not wasting yours. They educated us about the A/C Systems and SEER score. They were great teacher and we learned a lot that day. They assisted us in financing and we were surprised at the monthly payments which were much lower than we expected. The rep from the finance company called us and he was just pleasant and professional as the crew. Later in the week they returned with our 2 rebate forms already filled out and ready to sign! WOW! that kind of service is that! All in all, we are very happy with everything and this house is COLD! We are happy to endorse Waychoff's!"
My heat pump unit was not working, though the handler and thermostat were fine. I did a little testing myself and determined that the low pressure switch was triggered, then called Waychoff's without having told them anything about what I did (sort of a test to see if they'd try to sell me something I didn't need). Eric showed up 30 minutes early to the appointment (a pleasant surprise), and immediately got to work. Within 10 minutes he told me I had no coolant which triggered the low pressure sensor which meant there was a leak. He inspected the handler inside and then told me he needed to do a nitrogen pressure test to find the leak. 10 minutes after that he showed me the hissing leak in the heat pump, proving that there was in fact a leak. He brazed/welded it shut, re-tested to confirm, then filled the unit with coolant. 60 minutes later I'm back in business and my heat pump is working great. I liked that Eric was 100% honest about the issue and how to fix, and didn't try to sell me anything I didn't need. He also worked with me on the coolant charges, since they tend to mark it up quite a bit. Overall a good experience - I'd use them again for sure. They're a little bit pricey, but for the quality, honesty, and knowledge it's worth paying.

I could not be happier with the service I received from Jason Hester. He was a consummate professional and thoroughly explained the issues I had with my AC unit. I never felt I was being sold on any service. I have used other AC companies in the past, but will now call Waychoff's AC for all my future needs. Since your dryer has to blow exhaust air out through the ducts, the shorter the ductwork, the better. The total recommended length is normally less than 25 feet from the back of your dryer to the outside vent cover. If the duct has bends and turns, it should be an even shorter distance. The more turns, and the further the distance, the harder your dryer must work to move exhaust air and loose lint. A clogged dryer vent means:
“Julian, from Dryer Duct Cleaning services came out and cleared out our dryer vent, It was so clogged it actually leaked water from behind the dryer. I was so happy when he got done. The dryer worked perfectly and it cut the drying time by half. He was on time, cleaned up after himself and very knowledgable. They also came in $50.00 cheaper than anyone else. Appreciate the great Service Julian. Service done on 01/11/19. If there were more than five stars it would have been at the top. Thanks so Much.”
